The Marlborough Chamber of Commerce has the pleasure of announcing we have filled the role for our new General Manager! Pete Coldwell is moving from serving on the Chambers' board to having a much more hands-on role in developing the Chambers' presence in our community.
“I’d been on the Chamber Board for the last 3 years and could see some real opportunities in the role. I thought I had the right skill set and network to really make a difference going forward.” Pete said.
Originally hailing from the United Kingdom, Pete moved to Marlborough in 2007, after getting married here in 1997. His parents-in-law moved here in the late 90’s, which was where he learned about how fantastic the Marlborough region is - and thus has felt connected to the area for several decades.
Pete has a varied work history of both General Management and Managing Director positions in wine, hospitality and more recently, real estate (you might recognise Pete from his previous position at Bayleys Marlborough). He’s most proud of his success in building successful teams of people and growing the business success in each of the businesses he’s run.
Pete and his wife chose to raise their kids here as they felt it was the perfect place to grow their young family.
They love the welcoming nature of Marlborough, and have found it easy to meet and make friends here. They love to go fishing in the Marlborough Sounds, explore the natural landscape around the greater Blenheim area and go skiing at Rainbow ski field.
His kids are just as involved in the Marlborough community as Pete is, contributing in a wide range of activities and facilities in the region. From swimming at the Stadium to performing on the ASB Stage or training for triathlons in the region, they’ve all found their place.
Pete’s main goal for the Chamber is to build our reputation as the trusted and first source for local business for our resources, knowledge, networking and advocacy; helping businesses do business, essentially. He places importance in helping businesses grow, no matter their size, and helping contribute to the vitality of our local business community.
Pete noted: “Marlborough’s a great region to live in and do business in, and we as the Chamber aspire to be part of making it an even better place to do business”
