Business Networking Evening
Join us for drinks and nibbles hosted by Hortus and the Graeme Dingle Foundation and learn all about how both these organisations are supporting communities in our region.
Hortus is a vineyard management and labour supply company. Hortus is in its 11th year, they have 70 permanent staff and employ over 450 seasonal staff per year. Their long term goal is to develop a business they can all be proud of. A business that supports their staff and their families, the communities they operate in and ensuring the people they recruit on the RSE scheme are able to improve their life and the lives of those around them.
Aaron Jay owner of Hortus will talk about the RSE scheme and supporting families in the Pacific Island nations, the MSD project they have implemented as well learning about some of the training they provide through the Icehouse and other ways they are developing leadership and culture within their business.
Graeme Dingle Foundation Marlborough’s mission is to deliver programmes that are proven to bring positive changes to the lives of young people at the top of the south. Their programmes currently reach over 50% of Marlborough’s young people - helping them discover that what they have inside is greater than any obstacle. Presently they have two transformational programmes in Marlborough - Kiwi Can”, their energy-packed, primary school programme; and “Career Navigator”, their unique mentoring programme helping secondary school students find appropriate career pathways.
Kelvin Watt will talk about teaching values and soft skills and how relevant that is to the workplace of tomorrow, and how Career Navigator is bringing local young people and local business together.
The future of work is changing and there is an opportunity for us to all work together – business, community organisations and schools, to ensure Marlborough can retain (and attract) top talent in our region.
This is a FREE event for our members and are a great opportunity for people to network with other local businesses and learn about how you can help with the future of work for our region!
