How does the Regional Business Partner Network help?
The Regional Business Partner (RBP) Network is designed to make it easier for local businesses to access early-stage support to innovate and grow. This national network is made up of 14 'Regional Business Partners' and is supported by New Zealand Trade and Enterprise (NZTE) and Callaghan Innovation.
The Marlborough Chamber of Commerce partners with the Nelson Regional Development Agency to create a local network of support for local businesses to access funding, advice, information, referrals and connections.
At the Marlborough Chamber of Commerce we have a RBP Growth Advisor who works with local businesses to help them build their management capability and grow.
Our Growth Advisor can help you:
Access NZTE Capability Voucher funding for third party training/coaching to help you improve your business management capability. You may be eligible for a subsidy of up to 50 percent of your training costs up to a maximum of $5,000 per annum. This is suitable for businesses who want to address a gap in their knowledge or expertise in the following areas:
- Business operations
- Business planning
- Business systems
- Business sustainability
- Capital raising
- Lean manufacturing
Connect you to R&D / Innovation support through Callaghan Innovation. Callaghan Innovation is NZ’s business innovation agency. They offer a suite of R&D / Innovation support programmes such as R&D grants, innovation skills-building programmes, access to experts and business collaborations, and access to research and technical services. It is suitable for businesses who are innovating a new and novel technology with commercial potential.
Connect you with a business mentor through Business Trust Marlborough. Business mentors are experienced professionals who will guide you in achieving your business goals.

Am I eligible?
You do not need to be a member of the Marlborough Chamber of Commerce to talk to our Growth Advisor. However, to be eligible for NZTE Capability Voucher funding you must:
- have fewer than 50 full time equivalent employees
- be operating in a commercial environment i.e. trading
- be registered for GST in New Zealand
- be a privately owned business, or a Māori Trust under the Te Ture Whenua Māori Act 1993, or a similar organisation managing Māori assets under multiple ownership.
You must also be able to commit the time and resources needed to get the most out of your co-investment. This includes participating in a business assessment with our Growth Advisor.
Our Growth Advisor will also consider whether an investment in your business will help your business to grow and contribute to the economic development of the Marlborough region.
