Meet Andy


Andy came to Marlborough in 1975 to join the RNZAF and other than a 3 year stint at Ohakea air base has spent most of his working life in the region. An aircraft engineer by trade after a number of roles on various squadrons he moved for a brief time into teaching at the RNZAF Trade Training School and progressed from there into Non Destructive Testing of aircraft airframes and parts, on completing 20 years in the RNZAF Andy moved into a short spell of horticulture growing hot house tomatoes in Holdaway Street.

Aviation called him back and he then spent 10 years at Safe Air (now AIRBUS) covering a range of roles including Admin Manager for 250+ staff, Project Manager for Seasprite Helicopters deliveries to both NZ and Australian Defence, Project Manager for the Armada de Chile P3 Orion servicing’s done in Auckland with Air New Zealand initially and then with Safe Air

Andy has since completed 13 years with Cuddon Limited as the CEO of this diverse local engineering business with a large local focus in General Engineering, Aquaculture engineering, Refrigeration and Air Conditioning, Irrigation and Freeze Drying.

Andy married a local girl Marion and they have three adult children who have grown up in the region and have all married and remained local adding 6 grandkids to the mix. He has had a huge involvement locally through Hockey, Rotary, Scouting and Schools over the years.

Andy is currently serving as a board member on Hockey New Zealand (9 years), Marlborough Youth Trust (2 years) and is a committee member of the Nelson Marlborough Branch of the Institute of Directors. In his past he served 12 years on the Board of NMIT with 8 of these as Deputy Chair.
